Mila, my beloved iPod, died of natural causes last night at around 6:30p. She was a shade over 11 months when her harddrive cruelly failed on her, and rendered her inoperable. I was devastated; there was nothing I could do. Thus, I went through the motions of school today, until I could take Mila to the Apple store and get the problem rectified. Thankfully, the gent who helped me out was able to get me a new iPod, as my warranty hadn't yet expired. I haven't named my new one yet, because I still have to get used to it and its personality. I find that I miss Mila and all the quirks she developed, and her traits that are markedly different from my new 'Pod. For instance, I miss the bright white of Mila's screen when the backlight was turned on, compared to my new iPod's dull blue. I also miss the de-chroming Mila undertook when her finish became soiled with fingerprints. It's things like this that bond an iPod to its owner, and just like losing a friend, losing an iPod is hard to get over.
Mila, this one's for you.
